If your hat bends, squashes, or the brim becomes misshapen, you can steam your hat back to new condition with a basic iron and a damp cloth. Set the iron to the wool setting, then wet a cloth and wring it out so it’s still damp but not dripping water. Lay the hat flat on an ironing board and place the damp cloth over the brim. Then place the iron directly over the cloth and repeat around the entire perimeter of the hat. You should never iron the hat directly; always have a damp cloth as a barrier between the iron and the hat. Once the entire brim has been ironed, lay the hat on a flat surface to cool for 15 seconds so the brim regains its flat shape.
